Welcome to our garden

Bollom Gardens is run by Anna and Ed Bollom, based in Fochabers in the north east of Scotland.

Having grown up as part of a family obsessed with plants and gardens and spending most of her childhood living in gardens such as Leith Hall in Aberdeenshire and Inverewe on the west coast, it was almost inevitable that Anna would become a gardener herself.

Anna studied horticulture at Elmwood college near Stirling and then went on to a 3-year apprenticeship with the Professional Gardeners Guild. She has worked in Historical and botanical gardens all over Britain, including the Welsh Botanic Gardens in Carmarthenshire, Osbourne House on the Isle of White, The Garden House in Devon and the Abbey House in Wiltshire.

On moving to Scotland in 2015 Anna set up her own gardening business. She works in gardens large and small around the north of Scotland, helping owners develop their gardens, drawing up planting plans and providing specialist garden maintenance services. Anna spends most of her free time working in her own garden in Fochabers.

Ed studied sustainable horticulture at Cannington college in Somerset. He went on to the Professional Gardeners Guild apprenticeship scheme where he met Anna whilst training at the Garden House in Devon.

Ed has worked as a professional gardener in Historic gardens for over 20 years, including Chatsworth House, Osbourne House and Allington Castle. His passion has always been for kitchen gardens and productive gardening and he spent 5 years growing fruit, vegetables, herbs and cut flowers for King Charles at Highgrove House in Gloucestershire. During this time, he was the Senior Gardener in charge of the King’s walled garden, nursery and orchards.

On moving to Scotland with Anna he took on the task of building and managing the 8 acre walled garden at Gordon Castle. During his time as Head Gardener at Gordon Castle, the garden won both the RHS Partner Garden of the Year and the Historic Houses Garden of the year awards. Ed is a keen photographer and green wood worker.
